| Dear colleagues,
It
is our great pleasure to invite you to come to Prague to join us
at the 8th European Conference of Gestalt Therapy. The 8th meeting
of Gestalt community is going to take place in the very heart of
Europe - the historical crossroads of nations, cultures, and views.
The north, the south,
the east, and the west; Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, or Art Nouveau;
the past, the present, and the future: all this meets and melts
together here in Prague. Even Perls and Freud met here before World
War II…
Prague itself represents
a living tradition and renewal, both of which can be grasped through
the history or traced within the atmosphere of the recent social
transformation from communism to democracy.
This historical and social
movement has concerned and influenced all parts of life: politics,
economy, culture, philosophy, the system of values, or family life.
It has brought along new possibilities as well as new challenges;
it has raised expectations while evoking fear of the unknown, or
stirring up our curiosity…
Prague lies in a region
where Gestalt therapy has lacked adequate attention for a long time;
however, its potential may arise there just now.
The Gestalt community
is constantly growing. In this process our awareness grows, too.
In particular, we are more and more aware of our relational nature.
We relate to our history and to each other. In the field of the
conference, we invite you to appreciate our individual differences
as well our common roots and goals.
This all represents a
great chance and challenge at the same time for Gestalt therapy
and Prague to become a creative couple during the three days of
the conference.
